Role-Playing Game Principle

Players decide to play an imaginary character, who is called Player Character (PC), during a game which follows the scenario, prepared by the GameMaster (GM), in which lots of events and tests (encounters, enigmas, combats, pursuits, explorations, traps…) await the PCs. The game proceeds in the form of dialogues and the goal is, for every PC, to survive the world in which he or she has engaged or even to involve his or her skills in various domains by accumulating experience points.
The background of the Role-Playing Game and the scenario created by the GameMaster are simulated by rules which generally use dice rolls and results tables. Thus, it is a sort of board game with a goal: to complete successfully the adventure proposed by the GM, rules : quite numerous and sometimes a bit complex in order to simulate a reality in which the PCs live with complete freedom. It is also and above all the incarnation of a character in a consistent way by every player. One of the participants, the GM, is not really a player but plays by turns the roles of scriptwriter, narrator and referee.
